A Study of the Patterns of Combustion Temperature by Tonification and Sedation Method on the Heat-resisting Board

Abstract
The moxibustion works by the compositive stimulations of heat and chemical action taking place while burning an herb called moxa(artemisia vulgaris) near the skin. The degree of hot and chemical stimulation depends on the burning pattern of the herb. The purpose of this study is to obtain the basic data, can be used for clinical diagnosis and developing a new electric moxibustion heating equipment, on the quality and quantity of moxibustion stimulation by the measuring analysis. In the interests of obtaining the data, we observed the patterns of combustion temperature by the tonification and sedation method on the heat-resisting board during the heating period. In the combustion time, the tonification method was longer than the sedation. In the peak heating temperature, the sedation was higher than tonification. In the average temperature, there was no significant difference between the tonification and the sedation. In the maximum rate of rising in temperature, the sedation was higher than the tonification. In the mean rate of rising in temperature, the tonification was higher than the sedation. In the calorie rate of the moxa-combustion, the tonification was higher than the sedation.
